Jupiter, Florida

My husband and I took a Babymoon to Jupiter Beach 5 years ago and I knew I always wanted to bring the kids back some day. Well luck would have it that my sister lives near the area and we were able to visit with the cousins!

The Blowing Rocks Preserve is gorgeous and worth a visit. Even though several of the rocks were underneath the sand when we went, we were still able to capture some photos. Part of our adventure even ended with an impromptu photoshoot!

Loggerhead Marine Life Center is also free to visit and was one of our favorite places to visit. The kids enjoyed visiting the sea turtles and experiencing the interactive "design your own sea animal" exhibit. The kids were able to color and design a sea animal and then "send it to the ocean" on a big screen on the wall. This was definitely a highlight for them!

Stop 2: The McClarty Treasure Museum is part of Sebastian State Park. The museum is only $2 a person (kids under 6 are free). This museum explores the lost ships that were lost during an unexpected hurricane. The ships were carrying treasure that explorers have now found in the ocean. The kids are given a scavenger hunt to find relics around the museum and are given their own treasure to collect at the end!

Overall, our travels created some great memories and we enjoyed exploring a new place to visit with family. Now the big question is where should we travel to next?

Florida to Texas

Our Journey back to Texas!

Day 1: Vero Beach to Pensacola (8.5 hours without stops)

Getting home required some navigating avoiding the Tolls again so we decided to take a different way back home and planned a stop in Jacksonville, Florida. This was the cutest historic beach town! We stopped at the Beaches Museum which is free to visit. We were able to learn about the town's history as well as visit the cutest Sunrise Surf Shop.

Then we stopped at Alfred B. Maclay Gardens in Tallahassee for dinner which was a fantastic stop! We would love to come back in the Spring when the azaleas are blooming. Keep in mind that the cost to enter the park is $6 per car but during the months of January-April Adults cost an additional $6 and $3 for children when the gardens are in Full Bloom.

Day 2: Pensacola to Houston (9 hours without stops)

Disclaimer: This actually took us two days to get home because of our planned stops.

We planned our trip around the Blue Angels Training Dates so that we would be able to stop on the way back home. The US Naval Museum was a huge hit and the entire experience is Free! If you're looking to catch a Blue Angel Practice, be sure to check the schedule here. You are able to bring your own chairs or picnic blanket to view the show or you can rent chairs there for $6. The museum itself was also a very engaging and interactive experience for the kids. We could have definitely spent more time here if we weren't trying to get back on the road.

We also planned to stop at the USS Alabama on our way home. Adults are $18, Kids are $6 and Children under 5 are Free. This was a great break from the car and it had a lot of opportunity for exploring and learning. Part of the museum is outdoors so I do recommend planning to visit during a cooler time of year.

For our last stop to stretch our legs, we found the Acadia Nature Station in Lafayette, LA. Parts of the Nature Station are indoors and the trail is shaded (although I do suggest bringing bug spray!). The Camp Grounds even features a play area and of course my personal favorite, a Little Free Library out front!

Overall our museum stops and the long days of driving were the perfect balance. The kids also kept themselves entertained with snacks, books and of course the unavoidable tablet time. It was an experience we all enjoyed and we're already excited to plan the next adventure!

Texas to Florida

Here is a recap of the first stretch of our Road Trip to Florida. I tried to find stops that were easy, affordable and fun for a family on a travel budget!

Day 1: Houston to Panama City Beach (10.5 hour drive without stops)

Somehow we lucked out and happened to visit the Maritime Museum on National Maritime Day! We were able to experience the museum for free but normally Adults are $10 and Kids are $6 (Kids under 5 are free). This was a really neat stop and the kids loved seeing the USS Pioneer, one of the first submarine prototypes during the Civil War! There was also a cute library across the street and a park with a splash pad nearby the museum. However, it was too hot in the day for us so we opted to check out Abita Roasting Company instead. Madisonville felt like a great pit stop with lots of options to get the kids a break from the car.

Day 2: Panama City Beach to Legoland Resort (Pitstop to Vero Beach) 8.5 hours without stopping

Day 2: We spent the morning in Panama City Beach before checking out of our hotel. Then we stopped for lunch at the beautiful Dorothy B. Oven Park in Tallahassee. There was plenty of shade to help beat the heat and restrooms.

The last stretch of our drive was a bit tricky. The options were to pay the Toll or take back roads. Since we did not get a toll tag we ended up taking the toll-free route. However, after driving in the car for a day plus 7 hours already, this was no easy feat! But the kids adored the Legoland Beach Retreat and it was definitely a great pitstop during our journey.
The biggest hit was the huge Lego room across the street at the Main Legoland Hotel. The boys were able to build Legos to their hearts content while mom and dad enjoyed some peace and quiet.
The giant rubber Legos at the Beach Retreat Pool were also a great find! The kids enjoyed making their own flotation devices out of the Legos at the pool. Legoland Resort also runs some great specials through their website or you can also check Booking.com for prices so be on the lookout for those if you plan to visit. We decided to enjoy the amenities at the resort with air conditioning instead of spending the day at the park. This has ended up being one of my favorite parenting hacks if you're looking for a more relaxing trip where everyone can enjoy activities at their own leisure.

The kids also enjoyed their Lego sets that were waiting for them when we arrived at the hotel and the FREE Breakfast Buffet in the morning was another great perk offered! Overall this has been one of our favorite hotels to visit as a family.

Homeschool Adventure Fam

3 years ago I started a little account on instagram hoping to meet fellow Warrior Mamas. What is a Warrior Mama you may ask? They are mamas who have courage, spread joy & connect family and faith. After our lives turned upside down during 2020 and I was a stay at home mama of 3 boys under the age of 6 I knew I needed to think outside the box. There was no realistic way to harness the constant boy energy inside our home so I started looking for ways to get us outdoors, moving and still maintaining relationships with those around us.

Since that time we have all grown a little older and wiser and in fact we even made the brave decision to homeschool within the last 2 years. Sometimes life takes a new direction and you just have to trust God and run with it. We never looked back afterwards! I hope to use this as a share space to encourage other mamas who are contemplating an education shift for their families or to just grow closer in their relationships with God and in the community around them. Hope you enjoy our little space on the internet.
